The FAB 2 B-Station Tooling (originally the NEX 3 style) is a premium, high-performance assembly for holes and shapes up to 1.250" (31.75mm). It represents the "Quick-Adjust" standard for mid-sized punching, combining the structural strength needed for B-station tonnage with the rapid setup features of the FAB 2 series.
1. Enhanced Canister Architecture
The FAB 2 B-Station utilizes a fully enclosed, unitized canister design.
*Optimized Spring Force: It features a heavy-duty coil spring pack specifically calibrated to provide consistent stripping pressure, preventing "sheet lift" even when punching thick-gauge materials or using high-viscosity lubricants.
*Precision Guide Body: The guide is manufactured from high-carbon alloy steel with spiral lubrication grooves on the exterior to ensure the assembly slides smoothly within the turret, reducing friction and heat.
2. Precision "Click" Adjustment
The defining feature of the FAB 2 B-station is its calibrated, tool-free length adjustment.
*Incremental Calibration: A locking ring on the driver allows the operator to adjust the punch length in precise 0.1mm (0.004") increments. This is done entirely by hand—no shims or disassembly required.
*Total Penetration Control: This system allows the operator to maintain a consistent "penetration depth" into the die, which is critical for preventing "slug pulling" and ensuring a clean fracture on the material edge.
*Extended Service Life: Because the FAB 2 design allows for a much deeper regrind (up to 5.0mm / 0.200" total), the "cost per hit" is significantly lower than that of original style tools.
3. FAB 2 "Quick-Change" Stripper System
*Instant Exchange: The B-station assembly uses the FAB 2 "snap-on" stripper design. Using specialized pliers or a simple push-button mechanism, the stripper can be removed in seconds.
*Clearance Visibility: The design provides high visibility for the punch tip, making it easier for operators to inspect the tool for wear or galling without removing it from the guide.
4. Key Applications
Heavy Nibbling: The FAB 2 B-station is ideal for high-speed contouring where heat buildup is a factor.
*Precision Shapes: Excellent for squares, obrounds, and rectangles where exact punch-to-die alignment is required.
*Automated Production: Designed for "lights-out" manufacturing where tool reliability and consistent length are mandatory.
Interchangeability: Existing solid basic type punch can be used interchangeably with FAB 2
