The FAB 2 (NEX 3) Series is a comprehensive, high-performance tooling system that standardizes "Quick-Adjust" technology across all station sizes (A, B, C, D, and E). While the physical size and spring mechanisms scale up, the core philosophy remains the same: minimize setup time and maximize tool life.
1. Universal Features (All Stations)
Across the entire FAB 2 line, several engineering standards apply:
*The "Click-Adjust" Driver: Every station features a tool-free, calibrated adjustment head. By turning the driver, the punch length is modified in precise 0.1mm increments.
*Enhanced Regrind Life: The system is designed for 5.0mm (0.200") of total punch grind life—nearly double the 2.5mm industry standard for original style tools.
*Total Interchangeability: FAB 2 assemblies are designed to be fully compatible with standard Thick Turret machines (Amada, Finn-Power, LVD), allowing shops to upgrade individual stations without replacing the entire turret.
2. Station-Specific Engineering
A & B Stations (Small to Mid-Size)
*Canister Design: These are "closed" assemblies where the springs are contained within the guide body.
*High-Speed Springs: Optimized for "hit-on-the-fly" nibbling speeds exceeding 1,000 HPM.
*One-Touch Strippers: Stripper plates snap on and off in seconds using a specialized clip, eliminating the need for screwdrivers.
C, D, & E Stations (Large Size)
*Fully Guided Architecture: Unlike smaller stations, these utilize a "guided" system where the stripper plate provides 360° support to the punch tip throughout the stroke. This prevents deflection in large-scale punching.
*Disc Spring Power: To handle the massive surface area of 2.0" to 4.5" punches, these stations use heavy-duty Belleville disc springs to provide the high-tonnage stripping force required.
*Spiral Lubrication Grooves: Hardened guide bodies feature spiral channels to ensure grease is distributed evenly, protecting the turret bores from the weight of these heavy assemblies.
3. Maintenance & Operations
The FAB 2 system is designed for a "Clean-and-Go" workflow:
*Sharpen: Regrind the punch tip.
*Adjust: Simply "click" the head out by the amount ground off (e.g., if you ground off 0.5mm, you click 5 times).
*Install: The tool is immediately ready for production with the correct shut-height.
