It is an original term emphasizing the value proposition: Twice the grind life for the price of one standard tool, due to its modular design.
The fundamental difference is that the punch is no longer a single, disposable unit, but a multi-part assembly.
PUNCH HOLDER: The permanent body of the punch assembly that is placed into the RTC (Rapid Tool Change) tool cartridge. This component stays on the machine and does not need frequent replacement.
REPLACEABLE PUNCH TIP INSERT: This is the actual cutting component. It is a smaller, lower-cost piece of tool steel that is quickly locked into the punch holder. When the cutting edge dulls or wears out, only this less expensive insert is replaced or reground, not the entire punch assembly.
The system incorporates several design enhancements for maximizing production efficiency:
1.Extended Grind Life: The system features a precision spacer or similar design element that effectively increases the usable length of the punch insert. This feature increases the total available regrind life to an unprecedented 6mm (for standard length) or 9 mm (for Long Tooling), which is double or more compared to a traditional TRUMPF-style punch.
2.Keyed Punch: The punch is keyed to load directly into the guide/holder, which eliminates angular setting errors and ensures accurate, repeatable tool setup without external setting fixtures
3.DIE SYSTEM: The die component is also enhanced, often using a die holder and a separate die blade with a special profile (like the "GL" Grind Life Die) that allows for up to 2.5 mm of shimming (or twice the grind life of a standard die), further extending the tool's usage before replacement.
